A huge congratulations to all of our swimmers from Performance, Performance Development, AG3 and Youth Development who have successfully qualified for this year’s Aquatics GB Next Gen Championships. 
Just qualifying for this meet is a massive achievement.
Selection isn’t based on one race – it’s earned through your performances during the qualifying window (March-May), where swimmers have just a short period of time to post their fastest swims and secure a place.
With school exams, revision, training and the pressure of knowing every race counts, it’s one of the toughest parts of the season. To come through that and finish ranked amongst the very best in Britain is something to be incredibly proud of.
The final slide shows just how selective the championships are, with only the top 16, 18, 20 or 24 swimmers in Great Britain (depending on age and event) earning a place.And if that wasn’t complicated enough…
Next up come the Home Nation Championships (English, Scottish, Welsh etc.).
Yes, you can qualify for both, but if you’ve qualified for the British Championships in an event, that event takes priority, meaning you won’t swim it again at the English Championships – although you can still compete there in any other events you’ve qualified for. Those championships are then selected in a similar way, using the same qualifying window and strict ranking cut-offs.
