2012-13 Season Summary

One of our most suc­cess­ful sea­sons for many years with our junior swim­mers, and par­tic­u­lary Sophie Tay­lor excelling. 

Great Britain has tak­en teams to Euro­pean Youth Olympic Fes­ti­val, Euro­pean Junior Cham­pi­onships and World Youth Cham­pi­onships; Leeds has had a rep­re­sen­ta­tive on each team and con­tributed to the medals table in each com­pe­ti­tion. At the World Youth Cham­pi­onships, Sophie Tay­lor broke the British Senior 100m breast­stroke Record [Swim­ming World] with a time of 1:07.36 on her way to a sil­ver medal. Leed­s’s first senior record since James Hickman. 

Domes­ti­cal­ly we have start­ed to see Leeds swim­mer make senior finals at the British Cham­pi­onships and make the podi­um. Our young­sters have bro­ken into the Top 25 in the ​“open” rank­ings which is a good sign of the depth com­ing through the pro­gram. Fin­ish­ing Top Club and Top Girls at Nation­al Age Groups with 10 dif­fer­ent swim­mers medalling and mak­ing finals the pro­gram is start­ing to show more depth. The Youth swim­mers fin­ished 2^nd in the Girls and 5^th over­all. Hope­ful­ly the next sev­er­al years we will con­tin­ue to build with the depth of the young­sters com­ing through.
